The Institute of Information and System Science (IIS), Xi’an Jiaotong University, was established in 1994.  Currently, it has more than 40 staff members, including 6 professors, 2 associate professors and more than 30 Ph.D. students and MSc research students.  The key members of this research group are professors, who have high level academic ability and International influence.  The Mathematics Department to which IIS is affiliated is the National Key Department in China. The academic leaders of IIS are Prof. Zongben Xu, Prof. Wenxiu Zhang, Prof. Jiangshe Zhang, Prof. Yaolin Jiang, and Prof. Jigen Peng.

The IIS has refurbished offices in a modern building and has good facilities to host seconded researchers to carry out research on visual neural systems modelling, simulation and testing.
