The research group led by Prof. Xiaoyi Jiang at University of Muenster, Germany, was established at the end of 2002.  The research focus lies in image understanding and pattern recognition, covering subfields including medical imaging, 3D computer vision, document analysis, and multimedia. 

The funding is provided by DFG (German Research Foundation), DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service), and Siemens Medical Solutions. The group of Prof. Jiang has lot of experiences in working with multidisciplinary projects, e.g., the Collaborative Research Center SFB656 MoBil funded by DFG with partners ranging from clinical and basic medicine, biology and physics to applied mathematics.  The group has good facilities to host seconded researcher to conduct research on computer vision and pattern recognition research.
